eCommerce Adds New Customers for Eyewear Distributor

Rymic Distributors of Farmingdale, NY, owns the distribution rights to several fashion and sports-related products. Dirty Dog, a line of eyewear for the watersports set, which Rymic has exclusive rights to, is particularly well suited for a nationwide/worldwide sales effort. However, the small company cannot possibly canvas the entire globe to make retail sales and wholesale connections.
The answer was provided by IDS Interactive, who was engaged by Rymic to develop an e-commerce website that would not only display the line, and enable transactions, but also allow the small staff to manage every aspect of the site from their offices.
The newly launched DirtyDog.com website features an easy-to-use product drill-down and product checkout, as well as content management for updating text pages and e-zine-style news, and articles sections. The product and content databases are easily editable via an administration control panel that is used by Rymic staff with minimal training required.
The admin control panel also includes the ability to create and manage coupon discount campaigns and opt-in email marketing. Additional functionality includes the ability to produce sales reports, and add new product lines.
Aided by a wide ranging offline marketing effort that includes sports sponsorships and magazine advertising, the result is a website that handles orders from around the world regularly.
"E-commerce should allow a small staff to manage a large product line and large numbers of customers easily," explains IDS president, Don Breinlinger. "With this project, we wanted to create an e-commerce system that is very flexible, so that the client's changing needs can be met very quickly. This built-in flexibility not only allows them to adjust quickly to changes in their market, but also easily add custom features that fit the unique way they do business."
